Rand Paul Stands Strong on $40bil Ukraine Bill.
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is catching some serious blowback for digging his heels in over the proposed $40 billion Ukrainian aid spending bill that recently passed in the House of Representatives.
Despite mainstream media attempts to point the finger of blame at him over his refusal to approve the bill, Sen. Paul is simply asking for oversight into how the funds will be distributed.
Independent journalist Glenn Greenwald reported this week that a majority of the funds appeared to be going to American defense companies with only a small portion actually going to Ukrainian aid.
“While a small portion of these funds will go to humanitarian aid for Ukraine, the vast majority will go into the coffers of weapons manufacturers such as Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and the usual suspects,” Greenwald posited. “Some of it will go to the CIA for unspecified reasons.”
Notwithstanding calls from Senator Paul for an outline of how the money will be distributed, senate Democrats refuse to amend the bill to include one. This begs the questions. Is it really Rand Paul holding up the funds or the Democrats? And why does spending oversight seem to be such a preposterous request if the intended destinations for the funds are in the best of Ukrainians and the American people?
